The Cab

An addition to my long list of crushes is Alex T. Marshall from the band "The Cab". I've been listening to their song for about three years now. For three years that I've been listening to their songs I've never seen their faces. I'm in love with their music and not because of their looks, unlike others that they only want the band because of their looks. For me, I strongly believed that you don't necessarily need to have a crush or to see their looks first before you can appreciate their sound. The reason why you love them is because they have beautiful songs. It is unfair to them that you only support them because you are crushing on them but you didn't appreciate or like their sound. It is the song that they're selling not themselves.

Anyway, recently I goggled them and watched several music videos of them on youtube and there's this guy that caught my attention. He's the backing vocals and pianist of the band. I was smitten by his beautiful voice. After seeing him on their videos I was like holy cow who's that guy? I think he has the similarities with Justin Bieber in terms of flipping their hair and Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional in terms of their looks in some angle and in terms of his vocal range.

Whenever I hear their song Endlessly, the first thing that comes into my mind is him. I'm assuming that he dedicated this song to me and I feel like he's serenading me. Oh what a crooner! I get kilig whenever I hear the song, I'm so moved with the lyrics especially in this stanza "There's a house on the hill, with the view of the town and I know how you adore it. So I'll work everyday through the sun and the rain until I can afford it." He'll do everything in the name of love.

Alien for a month

My friend Jb, told me that if I step out of my comfort zone, I will know what I am made of. Jb shared to me some of the enlightening words of his mother. "The Generation of our parents -in terms of their career is called "The Generation X or the Baby Boomers" which mean that they pushed themselves to their limit so they can reach their goals. While us, our generation is called "The Generation Y" which means that we only do the things that our boss or our parents told us, our move or actions is very limited. After hearing all those words I realized that it's TRUE.

My Experience being a Secretary /HR.

I'm currently employed as a Secretary/HR in a firm, and I'm enjoying my work. At first I was kinda hesitant to work as a secretary because I'm scared, I don't have any idea or what to expect in our office since my knowledge about office work is very limited. Why? Because I'm a Registered Nurse. Payroll, office stuffs and Plant Visitation are all high falluting words to me. In nursing, we don't have an accounting subject. My first day at work, I felt like I'm from the planet Mars, a Martian that had been thrown out to their planet. Spell payroll? M-A-T-H-E-M-A-T-I-C-S. (the reason why I took up nursing is because I loathe math). I'm an alien because I invaded a new world. (Naghahasik ako ng lagim sa office namin haha).

I'm happy that my boss is guiding me and she's always there to support me until I transformed into a beautiful swan, a swan that can stand in his own feet. She pushes me to my limit and I'm surprised with all my accomplishments. I never ever imagined that I can do all those stuffs (payroll, doing financial statements and stuffs like that). When you do stuffs that is way different from the things that you used to do it feels so good, and it is very liberating. All the things that I'm doing at our office are all new to me, which is a good thing.
Because it helps me improve myself to become a better person, it enhances my communication skills and it also gives me a wide range of perspective in life. Although my current work is not related to my career I can say that this is the right thing to do because I'm starting to anticipate change and I'm welcoming career growth.

My two weeks as an office girl is like a whirlwind but luckily I survived and I stand still. Although this work is a part time job only I'm still hoping that I can acquire new knowledge and skill that I can use in my future endeavors.

Blog Contest: Meet and Greet

Blogging wouldn't be fun if there's no blog contest and giveaways. Who doesn't love freebies? You get a chance to own a certain thing without having to buy it and sometimes you have the chance to meet and greet your favorite idols. I really love those perks like last March 2012 I was one of the lucky winners of DTC Mobile Phone.

A Contest to Remember:

Last week I joined a contest which you can meet  your favorite Hollywood Idol and luckily I snag the first prize. I never expected nor imagined that I can snag the prize; I have the tiniest probability to win in this contest since it's an international blog site and most of the participants of this blog come from different parts of the world.

One lazy Sunday afternoon, I surf the net and saw a blog, hosting an international meet and greet contest, without hesitation I joined the said contest, all you have to do is to submit a blog entry why you deserve to win this contest. The people that pops into my mind at that time are Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Adam Brody, Rachel Bilson and Justin Timberlake I super love them and I'm dying to meet and to have a picture with them. A week after, I received a notification thru e-mail that I won. After I have read the notification I was like asdfjkl oh geez is this true? I slap my face to make sure that I wasn't dreaming, after 5 minutes of buffering I finally regain my composure and I replied to the mail and give the information needed so they can process my papers. After 3 grueling days of waiting I finally received my round trip ticket to USA.

The Trip: After 22 hours of seating on a plane:

I finally arrived to my destination, "Hello Hollywood!" I'm still indecisive which Hollywood star should I meet up; I'm still torn between Adam Levine, Adam Brody, Rachel Bilson and Justin Timberlake. The crew and Ms. Emily are very accommodating they gave me enough time (an hour) to decide. After an hour Ms. Emily asked for my decision I told her that I want to meet Adam Levine, JT, Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson but whenever she asked me if that is my final decision I can't speak up then she started laughing. They say that when it rains it really pours, Ms. Emily allowed me to meet two of my idols. Amazing! After a long deliberation I finally chose Adam Levine of Maroon 5 and Adam Brody.

 Meeting up Adam Levine:

The following day we went to the "The Voice" set to watch it LIVE and to hang out with Adam. Aside from meeting him, I was able to meet his co-judges Christina Aguilera, Ceelo Greene and Blake Shelton. (haha

hitting two birds in one stone) They toured me to the set and had a picture taken inside the studio beside the "The Voice" logo – hand with a peace sign.

The most unforgettable moment there was when they surprised me; we went to Starbucks, the cafe used in the, The Voice. I saw this good looking guy seating on a couch then Ms. Emily went to his place and do some hand signal to me saying "come here" I went to her and saw the guy, my tears started to rolled down on my face because I'm so surprised to see JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE. I literally had a mini heart attack. 15 minutes later, another guy went to our table and my jaw literally dropped I saw ADAM BRODY and he gave me a bouquet of flowers.  Adam L., Adam B., JT and I went to my hotel and we had a dinner there. They all treat me like a real princess. After our dinner we bid our goodbyes and they all gave me a peck on a cheek.

I never expected that they will grant my 3 wishes. I'm so speechless and I'm so moved with their gestures to me. May 1 2012 is the happiest day of my life. I stayed there for two days, on my last day there I went to the mall to do a last minute shopping then I accidentally bumped Adam Brody and we had a little chit chat then I heard a super loud ring and my visions are becoming blurry and Adam Brody are starting to fade away then someone yelled at me "Hoy! Gising!" What a wonderful dream.

Mother's Day Pigout

After our Cavite escapade we headed to SM City, Manila.

We celebrated Mother's Day there but the celebrant is not with us. (Funny right) Our first food chain stop is at Yellow cab we bought New York's Finest,

Chicken Alfredo pasta

and my favorite twice baked potato.

After that we went to movie house to watch "The Avengers" And our last destination is at Country
Style to buy some donuts

and at Goldilocks to buy Choco Strawberry Roll cake for Mother's day.

Things like this are the one that can really make me happy. It's not the food nor the movie that makes me happy but the people I'm with.

Mother's Day

"In every successful person behind them is a woman whom we called as our MOTHER."

There are 365 days in a cycle, 12 months in a year, 7 days in a week, 24 hours in a day and 60 seconds in a minute to do the things that we wanted to do. Basically, most of these times were spent with our friends, in school and at work. Sometimes even in weekends or in our rest day we opt to be with our friends instead of staying in our house. We don't have enough time to hang out and to bond with our family. Giving up a day to celebrate and to pay tribute to our mother is not a big thing I guess. We still have 364 days left! Let them feel that we are proud of them. "Today is Mother's Day". Let us all express how grateful we are that we have a mother like her.

My mom is the best in the whole world, she's doing everything for us, giving all the things that I need, sending me to a good school and supporting me in every possible way. I dedicate this poem to her:

A Special Message for you, My Best friend

You are the most significant person in my life.
No dictionary can give meaning for my love towards you.
No thesaurus can give synonym for the word that could express my adoration for you.
You are my dearest friend,
the person who knows me better than I know myself.

I love you for being the wonderful person that you are
and for the beauty you bring into my life just by being there.
You are a gift from God whom I would treasure
not in the treasure box but in my heart.

I don't have a million dollar account, a luxury car or a castle but I can ray that I’m rich because all the things that I need (not the material thing) like the overflowing love and support from my family is what matters to me. Three words, eight letters and a simple message like this is enough for them. Happy mothers day to my loving mother

Cavite, my summer getaway

May 12, 2012 exactly two days before the start of my summer job, I finally have my much awaited summer vacation. My sister and Aileen treat me and my younger sister and their grade school friends to an overnight stay in Cavite. We headed to Cavite around 7:30 PM and we arrived there around 10 in the evening. Our trip took long because we had 3 stopovers. I never expected that this trip would become memorable for me, imagine after 15 years my crush and I crossed our paths again. His name is Manjo, my sister's friend and my first ever crush. I also met Charisma, a former volleyball player of San Sebastian if I'm not mistaken and what shocked me the most was Charisma is Yousif Aljamal's ex. Ohlala! We went to Aileen's family house in Richlane Imus, Cavite to celebrate her birthday. We had a drinking session/bonding moments there for long, but I can say that we really had a blast.

Living Robot

Lately I've been dealing with so many stressful things in my life. I'm so frustrated and I'm totally affected with this. My head started to ache because of too much thinking. Recently I always have a dreadful dreams, before I find peace in my sleep but lately, even in my sleep those things keeps on haunting me.

Dear Mama and Papa,

All my life I'm trying my best to please you, I'm working hard to be the best but for you I'm miles and miles away from your expectations. I feel like I'm living robot that needs a master so I can be functional. I should be like this and that and go here and there. You say that I have my free will to decide but after I have made my own decisions you started to yell at me because the decisions that I come up is not the same or mutual to you. You push me to do the things that I don't want to do in the first place. Because I rejected your proposal you're starting to say things or cuss at me.

I appreciated all the things that you're doing and I'm thankful that you're guiding me but how can I become independent when you're always there to decide on my behalf. How can I stand in my own feet when you're always there guiding and standing at my side, that in every steps that I make I have to consult you first. For once, I want to drive my own life I don't want to be independent on you. I'm old enough to know what is wrong and what is right. Can you at least give me a chance to decide for myself? Can you at least respect my decisions? All my life, I followed all the things that you want for me, because you're my parents. Parents know what’s best for their children. You know how much I love you and I respect you. The only thing that ticks me off is that you're so STRICT that I can't breathe, I'm suffocated. Sigh.

I just need to express this, because I can't breathe anymore.

A Close Encounter to a Schemer, Almost got victimized

We heedfully know the current state of our economy. I think the primary cause of poverty is overpopulation because of this, another problem will rise, they are directly proportional to each other, and example the raise of unemployment will affect the standard of our living (food, education and shelter). In order for us to survive in this world we need to work hard and fight like hell to get all the things that we want. In relation to that, some people will do bad stuffs to get what they want, they don't mind whether they're hurting others, like what happened to me last April 24, 2012.

One busy afternoon, I received a call from a no namer around 3:24 PM. Since I'm preoccupied at that time, I absentmindedly answered my mobile phone. Someone named Jen from blah -blah company asked a minute of my time, since I don't want to sound rude I entertained her. She introduced herself to me saying that she's the account specialist of blah -blah company after that, she divulge the reason why she called me up, she said that their company is in need of 3 Healthcare Professionals and asked me if I can come over to their office by Wednesday or Thursday depending on my availability to discuss the nature of the job and to assess whether I'm qualified to the said position. I asked the exact location of their office and she said that their office is located at the back of SM Megamall, Ortigas. She asked me if I have a job after I answered her "none" she started saying stuffs that are very enticing to hear like I can work to them part time of full time and they're offering a compensation rate based in US Employment rate. After hearing all those flowery words, without second thoughts I followed my intuitions. I booked an appointment with her on Thursday because I'm so enthralled with her offers, (offers like this are so hard to resist especially to a jobless person like me.) and she said that she'll just send me the complete address of their company. After 5 minutes, I received a text from her:

"Kindly note down our appointment on April 26 at exactly 3 PM. Bring 1 valid ID and wear business attire. Our office is located at the back of SM Megamall along San Miguel Ave. Robinson's Bank Bldg. in front of Petron Gas Station; ok see you then, Godbless!"

My Point of View

These are the question that runs into my mind after our short conversation. I wanted to ask all these questions to her but she said that we only have a MINUTE to talk. I don't remember a particular time or day that I sent a resume under their company. How come she knows my number? How come she knows my complete name and the profession where I belong to? What specific floor should I go? I'm so puzzled; hello I have tons of questions need to unveil. To release my angst I tweeted
this:

 and replied to her text::

"Sorry, can you please tell me again the complete name of your company. Thanks."

She replied

"Blah- blah Company. As is xa not abbreviated. Ok. Busy here. Godbless"

After receiving her last text, I felt that there is something wrong. They're not entertaining questions and when they answered your question they gave you a one liner answer. So my sister suggested to Google the company. I immediately surf the net but the company that I'm looking for is nowhere to be found. I rephrased my query and added the word "Ortigas" and to my surprise I saw blog entries way back 2009 meant to bashed a certain company, to my curiosity I read the blog and I was a bit astonished because the scene happened to them is the exact circumstances happened to me. At first I thought it was just a merely coincident but when I tried to read other blogs and all of them experienced the same scene happened in Ortigas, I opted not to go there - for my own safety purposes.

Lesson Learned:  "Before dealing to a certain company or person or before going to a place make sure to do a little research or back ground checking because you'll never know what lies ahead."

I grew up in the 90's

"Childhood is the one story that stands by itself in every soul." Ivan Doig

I grew up in the 90's era. We are the last generation who learned to play in the streets. When you say interactive games, we meant playing in the streets until sunset not spending it in front of computer. We actually sat in the park talking for hours and not sending one liners via text or IM's. I remember playing hide and seek almost every night since brown out is prevalent at FVR's time. We block the streets so we can play patintero, tumbang preso, dodgeball, siato and mataya taya. And sang "Langit, lupa impyerno. Im, im impyerno. Saksak puso tulo ang dugo. Patay, buhay! Umalis ka na d'yan sa pwesto mo." My playmates and I believe that when we draw sun in the streets we can counteract the pouring of the rain. We are the first one who has played videogames using our Super Nintendo and/or Sega.

I have witness and tried to play Mario with hundred lives. We got addicted to Tamagotchi and brought them every where we go. And oh, who would forget "POGS" , I remember I used to play and collect them especially the ones free from coke. My siblings and I exert all our efforts to collect some coca cola's crown from different sari-sari store and exchange it to have a set of pogs and slammers.

I grew up in the 90's era where there are no such things as Wattpad or E-book. No Harry Potter and Twilight only Goosebumps, Archie and Sweet Valley. We are the generation of Pokemon, Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles. Renting VHS tapes not DVD's, no Mutya, Santino and Anna Manalastas but we have Mighty Ducks, Dennis the Menace and Kevin McCallister of Home Alone

and we tried to pull the same pranks on intruders-- other group of kids trying to invade our playground. Watching Are you afraid of the Dark? Afterwards, we're all afraid to go up stairs and lie in bed alone. We once dream to be on Nickelodeon game show Legends of the Hidden Temple,

and tuned in to Disney Channel to spot the hidden Mickey. We are the pioneers of walkmans. We don't have Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift or Jonas Brothers but we have Backstreet Boys,

Nsync, Hanson and The Moffats which later on we're all arguing who is the best of them all. We tend to call to different radio stations to request our favorite song and record it on a cassette.

We didn't have facebook or Twitter but we had slambooks and answered "Who is your Crush?" with "Too many to mention" and ends our dedication with different acronyms like J.A.P.A.N ad B.B.B. We live without mobile phones, no +99 television channels, flat screens, surround sound, mp3, iPods and high tech stuffs like that but nonetheless we had a GREAT TIME.
